GOtv Zambia – Always on
illuminating Zambian homes in the midst of darkness
The Situation
Zambia, known for its stunning waterfalls and reliable 24/7 power, was plunged into darkness when the government announced an indefinite load shedding that plunged Zambians’ evenings and nights into total darkness.
Zambians, used to constant power, found themselves unprepared.. 92% of them had no backup power supply and with most relying on TV for evening entertainment, there was no source of fun or entertainment. Thus, evenings became long, unlit stretches with no entertainment, no connection, and no escape.
Our Solution
Armed with this info, we launched a lifeline- the GOtv stream app, a mobile app that ensures that entertainment stays ON even when the lights go off. This mobile app let Zambians keep watching their favorite shows and movies, even as the lights go out
Our campaign, “Ise Sitmanzinya” (Always ON), where we showcased the stark reality of blackouts and how GOtv Stream illuminated Zambian homes in the midst of it resonated deeply with Zambians.
THE RESULT
The response was powerful. Driven by FOMO, people flocked to download the app. With GOtv Stream, we assured Zambians that even when the night is dark, the entertainment is Always ON.
